Adventures Abroad

Many of our majors have gone on to study abroad around the world. A map was created this year to show the many places GIS majors have gone from the past 5 graduating classes:

The map is color coded, representing classes 2021 to 2025.

Color Code:

Red – 1

Green – 2

Pink – 3

Blue – 4

Beige – 5

Grey – 6

Yellow – 7

In addition to the map, over the years the department has created study abroad features, highlighting our majors adventures. They are posted on Instagram, and we have started posting the features on the website as well.

Study abroad is a requirement for GIS majors; though, the requirement is exempted for International Students who still have the option to complete this requirement. When considering study abroad, the first step is to stop by a GEO 101 meeting to go over how to start the process. This includes the prompting to begin to think about personal preferences to choose the best program for you that meets your needs. Study abroad also requires preplanning and may be completed in your sophomore or junior year. Please note the Economics Home Department only teaches Junior IS in the Spring and this is a required course.
